Unfortunately Jon, you have hit the nail on the head. This IS in fact the latest OS available for the 8300!!

Wow! That's sad... Definitely feeling like the the odd man out these days! I guess they're trying to tell me that the 8300 is really nearing the end of its lifecycle...

A shame. I'd love WiFi and GPS, but even without them, this is a great device. Finding it hard to understand why they can't update the OS for this as much as the version for the other 8xxx devices. Seems to me that it should be EASIER to update than the versions that also have WiFi or GPS. Same core code - a few less features to support.

Ah well... Have to put up with it - no choice for now.

I'll probably be putting .55 on soon -- see if it handles memory leaks better and if the camera is better.

Was seriously considering ordering a replacement body for it from CNN.CN, as well as the black front and black keypad. Thought it would be nice, but I wonder how much money to put into this thing now that it's "obsolete"...
